More speedy race results

It's the Monument Avenue 10k! The stars and stripes flying for the National Anthem pre-race.

Here comes my handsome husband coming up on Mile 6.

Here he is post-race enjoying his 43.17 finish.
Well, he may not look like it, but he is enjoying it. He did enjoy his post-race meal at Moe's.

Baby hats!

A church charity knitting project - baby hats! This is our charming collection ready to go to the local hospital NICU unit. What a joy!

Neighbors

Every neighborhood has a variety of homeowners. The homeowner next to us prefers to do yardwork in his underwear. In the warmer months, he goes barefoot, but this day he chose to accessorize his foundations with full socks and shoes.

Here's a better view of the distinguishing feature of men's boxer shorts. Yes, I did take these photos covertly through the blinds. And the penalty for my sneakiness? My breakfast oatmeal overflowed all over the microwave.

Visit with friends

What a fun visit! Friends came into town to visit. On my birthday even! We had a delightful time - yummy lunch and dinner and an evening making a craft project! Okay it did take us over an hour to select one solid color tee each. And one of us was a bit skeptical that we would have completed, wearable shirts at the end of the night, but - through great patience and perseverance, Heidi made sure we did.

Instructor extraordinaire Heidi assists with Anna's stitching. (Anna was the skeptical one.)

Kathy creates the perfect star.

Emily models the first completed tee. Lovely in purple!

Kathy poses in her completed tee.
Remember the tee above that Heidi was working on for the naysayer? She looks fabulous in it now! With stylish pajama bottoms to boot.

What lovely friends to spend my birthday with me. I love you all!

A few finished projects - and gifts!

Friends coming to visit this weekend. What's the right thing to do? Make baskets as take home gifts, of course!

And while I'm crocheting, I went ahead and made a little something for myself. An original pattern by my master designer friend.

I hope they like their gifts!!!

Don't get me wrong - I love a sunny, spring day as much as anyone. And it is a spectacular day in Central Virginia today - clear blue skies and rapidly approaching 70 degrees. However, my plans for hanging out hand washables to dry and giving the car a much needed bath are being dashed by 25MPH winds! March is indeed coming in like a lion. And I feel very much like Winnie the Pooh - 1977: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (trilogy of the The Honey Tree, The Blustery Day, and Tigger Too)

Socks and SOCKS!

I just posted a photo of my dainty new socks. I am a big girl, so I have big feet (for a girl). But let me say, my oversized socks are small potatoes compared to the Christmas stockings I knit for handsome husband (out of Swish Superwash in Coast Grey).

Socks and recipient may meet for a day together if it gets cold again this year. Otherwise, he may not come to adore them the way one adores hand knit socks (or at least as much as the handknitter does) until next fall.

Updates!

Although not seen on the web, I have actually been knitting a bunch! I have new socks made from Holly Spring Homespun's own died yarn - a yummy superwash wool in their own Simply Socks pattern.

And a pair of handwarmers from KnitPicks Andean Silk:

And just to brighten the cold winter day when these photos were taken, I brought in some jonquils:
