My first web site!

I have designed and posted my very first web site. For profit even (one must fund the yarn and paper habit somehow). You may view it at www.mcsip.org.

A success story in the karmic world of knitting

As you know, I was in possession of a great deal of colorful kitchen cotton donated to the knitting ministry. Quandary - I couldn’t find a good project for it nor was using it to make sunshiney dishcloths for myself really the ethical thing to do. Second quandary – half by half.

Last Sunday, a missionary from Brazil spoke at church. She listed a number of educational activities she does with the kids. I don’t remember any of them except the magic word – knit. So, I sidle up beside her after the service – hey, you need any yarn? Apparently cotton is hard to come by in Brazil. She’ll be in town all week.

I met her this morning for the transfer of an entire bag (you know the bag) of peaches ‘n cream for a trip to South America. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to slip in two skeins of Red Heart from a prior church member donation (I put them on the bottom – how sleazy is that?). I’m on a quest to half-by-half here.

I got her e-mail address and look forward to photos of happy faces surrounded by cotton in some fashion. I’m hoping children can be much more creative with it than I am.

By the way, it is cold there too, so she will accept hats, sweaters, scarves, etc. for the kids. Patterns too. She’ll translate them into Portuguese. I think some Knitty prints will be coming off the color printer at the office soon. They have some fun skull cap patterns. And perhaps some patterns that will work with my stash. It’s all about halving, you know.
